Biodynamic farming refers to a practice pioneered by Rudolph Steiner, an Austrian scolar and philosopher from the late 19th century.  His teachings are based on a spiritual philosophy called Anthroposphy.  Biodynamic agriculture is considered the first intentional form of organic farming but different in that it looks upon the soil and the farm as living organisms themselves.  It uses holistic methods through herbal preparations and the use of an astronomical sowing and planting calendar.  Though we are not a biodynamic farm, we do employ certain techniques we find useful in the sowing, growing and maintenance of our plants.
